This 3-day course (3½ days in Newcastle) for nurses, doctors and all professions supplementary to medicine, has been running successfully for many years. It is aimed for those who have some basic knowledge and experience of urodynamics but who are not experts.
The course is a combination of lectures using slides, videos, PowerPoint or overheads, interactive discussion and practical demonstrations. Time is spent discussing the basic principles of urodynamics, setting up equipment, urodynamic techniques, interpretation of results and writing reports. Most of the relevant topics are covered but this is not a specialised course and neither does it cover the advanced application of urodynamics to management. There are usually 18 delegates (20 in Newcastle) attending the course and the small numbers mean that it is possible to discuss ideas and problems individually.
At the close of the course there is a short optional multiple choice test. Those who achieve satisfactory marks are awarded the Certificate of Urodynamics of the Bristol Urological Institute. Others who do not reach the required standard, or who choose not to participate, are awarded a Certificate of Attendance. |
