Education - Basic Urodynamics

The Basic Urodynamics Course is held once a year, usually in March. We should know the dates by December 2010. The dates and application form will be published on this page as soon as the course dates and venue is confirmed.

The information below is for the March 2010 course, however much of the content will be relevant for the 2011 course.

Course Overview:

This course is designed for those who are interested but not already experienced in the subject, the main part of the course being held on Tuesday 16th & Wednesday 17th March 2010.

There will be an optional practical day on Monday 15th March 2010. This day is intended for nurses and technicians with LITTLE or NO URODYNAMIC EXPERIENCE who wish to have an introducation to the practical aspect of urodynamics. Doctors who are particularly interested in practical aspects of urodynamics may join the practical day. Attendance is limited to 24 participants.

The main course on the Tuesday and Wednesday will cover: Anatomy and Physiology, Basic techniques, Urodynamics Equipment, Clinical Applications and Management in Urology, Gynaecology and Spinal Injuries. Numbers are limited to 50.

There will be concurrent exhibition of available urodynamic equipment.

Numbers will be limited to 50 participants for the Main Course on Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • Urethral Pressure Profilometry
  • Long Term Ambulatory Monitoring
  • Voiding Cystometry
  • Video Urodynamics
  • The Significance of Urinary Symptoms
  • Urodynamics in Children
  • Urodynamics in Women
  • Urodynamics in Men
  • Urodynamics in Neuropathic Patients
  • Setting up a Urodynamic Clinic

 
Costs:
£500 for the 3 day course.
£425 for the 2 day course.

The course fee includes:

  • A copy of Paul Abrams' book 'Urodynamics' (3rd Edition).
  • Evening Course Dinner 'The Muset' Restaurant
  • Lunch on all course days
  • Transport between the Ibis hotel and Southmead Hospital and The Clifton Pavilion (Bristol Zoo Gardens)
  • Transport between Ibis hotel and The Muset restaurant

The course fee(s) does NOT include accommodation, however we have negotiated discounted room rates a the Ibis hotel.

  • The Ibis hotel has reserved rooms for us, which will be held until 15th February 2010
  • The cost per room is £70.00 per night B&B. If you would to book accommodation through us please include the appropriate tariff with your course registration form.

PLEASE NOTE:
Applications close on 15th February 2010. Refunds will not be given after this date. Furthermore we cannot guarantee inexpensive accommodation at the Ibis hotel after this date. We do recommend that delegates book accommodation at the Ibis hotel as we will collect you by coach to and from the venue(s), furthermore there is extensive building work ongoing at Southmead Hospital and this if severly restricting car-parking within the site.
